| Extended IRC howto  |

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat developed somewhere in 1988.

So howto connect to this chat system its actually quite easy once you get the hang of it.

First start with getting one of the most used IRC clients for windows called mIRC you can find it here:

Grab what ever mirror is closed to you once the download finishes run the .exe and follow the simple installation instructions.

Ok now the harder part begins,

If you haven’t already started mIRC do this now you will be presented with the following screen:

Simply fill out the boxes: Full name, email, nickname, Alternative.

You should not use your real name and email there but you have to fill something in. The nickname and Alternative nickname should be different incase someone else uses the same nickname. When your finished filling those in click on “OK” the screen will disappear and you will be presented with a empty text screen type the following in the chatbox:

/server irc.deltaanime.net

After typing that you see a whole lot of text fly by at high speed now you do not have to read them now they are the rules and terms of service of the IRC network we are connecting to go read them when you’re bored.

Besides the text a screen “mIRC Favorites” will pop up we will now add the channels so you will automatically join the channel when you connect.

Here click on “ADD” and you will see the following screen:

Fill it out just like on the screenshot then click “OK” now repeat the same process but instead of #l2x-chat enter #logic
Now next time these channels will automatically open when you connect. Back at the “mIRC favorites” window tick off the box saying “pop-up favorites on connect”.

For now select the logic channel (#logic) in the “mIRC favorites” windows and click join.

CONGRATULATIONS, you just joined your first IRC channel(s)



Also you’ve setup your IRC client now next time all you have to do is type:

/server irc.deltaanime.net

Then you will join the server and channels.
